In addition to starring on General Hospital for so many years, Rademacher has also starred on Dancing with the Stars, Hawaii 50 and The Bold and the Beautiful. He has been touring, hosting fan meet and greets, most recently appearing at three packed fan events in the New York City area. When the General Hospital show schedule changed, it allowed for more time to meet viewers on the road, many of whom have been watching General Hospital their entire lives. Passionate paddlers who have partnered with Yoloboard stand-up paddleboard company, the husband and wife team created their own prints for products geared toward the niche within the canoe and stand-up paddle community. “It’s a hard industry to break into and there are constant orders coming, so we are always working on improving our products and not over producing,” Rademacher says. “It’s just my wife and I doing Mahiku, shipping from a little commercial space in El Segundo.” Mahiku’s activewear has a loyal following. They are known for the scorching hot sales, so Rademacher advises getting on the mailing list for when they send out promo codes for discounted sales. When it comes to diet, Rademacher doesn’t experiment. The family adopts a very low sugar intake, no soft drinks and lots of water. Rademacher also believes in fasting in moderation. “It’s a good thing to give your body a break, like animals do, you can give your system a rest,” he says. “We stay away from processed foods and beverages, and especially dairy since there are so many problems within the dairy industry, but we search out a2 milk and have that with our Garden of Life shakes and products.” Working out is also a family affair. Rademacher believes one of the most important things for busy parents is time spent with kids, talking with them and doing something together. Because all of the Rademachers are involved in so many sports – the boys participate in swim team and other activities – time together often includes exercise. “For myself, I do 50 sit-throughs a day and sometimes the kids will do those with me, and we’ll mix it up with pushups and sit-ups,” says Rademacher, who often has only a few moments to grab some exercise during full days on the set between scenes with makeup and hair. “Make the effort to just do a little, if you don’t have time to do a lot.” He is not unlike Jax, the character he has played for the past several years, calling Jax the ‘much, much richer version of me’. “Jax is the guy who is always fighting for justice or fairness, especially when it comes to treating a woman unfairly, he will step in and he doesn’t like bullies,” says Rademacher. “I don’t get to play the bad guy very often, which is fun to do as well, but I get to play the white knight who comes in and saves the day and the fans have big passion for that.” “I will be doing a lot of personal appearances and I’m excited to promote Garden of Life on the tour, because health always comes up in the Q&A afterwards with attendees asking, "How do you stay like this?" says Rademacher, who loves to share his favorite Garden of Life products with audiences. “Garden of Life was so nice to hook up my fans with gift bags so the audience could discover the products as well.” In particular, Rademacher enjoys Garden of Life chocolate shake powders, especially plant-based protein powder, MCT oil, collagen, along with wheatgrass for detox in the morning. He also uses the mykind Organics Vitamin C and Vitamin B12 sprays, along with mykind Organics Elderberry Gummies, something he says is a good transition for children who don’t yet know how to swallow vitamins. “Look, for people who are starting out on a healthful journey, it is one of those things that you don’t want to bite off too much and fail to follow through, so start by taking a walk every day around the block and then graduate to upping your mileage,” says Rademacher. “Don’t overeat and start thinking about making small changes, otherwise people relapse and stop trying, so start small and don’t put stress on yourself doing too much at the beginning.” Living close to the beach and with Rademacher’s love of extraordinary health, he trained for months to prepare to become an LA Lifeguard. “At my age up against all these young 18- and 20-something college swimmers, I was among 300 people chosen for the academy and thousands who showed up for the online qualifying portion of the process, the whole thing takes about a year,” Rademacher says. “It was amazing, the training, and to have a job doing something physical where I can make a difference and have the ability to save someone’s life.” Rademacher was a lifeguard when he was younger, so he was excited to make himself available for LA county lifeguards to work when they need him. “My first five minutes on the job it was a pretty good size day surf-wise, so I was on backup for one of the guards running into the water when I realized there was another rescue,” says Rademacher, who duck-dived under some big waves toward the other boy caught in the riptide. “I got to him and said, ‘Hey buddy, how’s it going? Never let go of this rescue can – we’ll swim back together, so no worries,’ and it was gratifying to give back to the community that way.” Catch Rademacher on General Hospital and follow him on Instagram @ingorademacher for details about upcoming events and tour dates.
