By reverse engineering our supply chain, we produced something
truly different. We built the boats, sourced the most sustainable
raw materials, utilized the most advanced extraction technologies,
all while keeping the entire line Non-GMO and earning the most
stringent certifications in the fish oil industry.
In order to assure full-traceability we started with sourcing. Garden
of Life has made innovations across the board. We revolutionized
how cod liver oil is produced by freezing fish directly on the boat to
retain freshness and ensure naturally occurring nutrients are present
in our finished product including DPA, SPMs (Specialized Pro-
Resolving Mediators), and naturally occurring vitamins A & D.
Our tuna oil comes from Sushi Grade Tuna, line caught in the
Mauritus Islands’ certified mercury-free waters. We use the tuna
heads which have traditionally been discarded and wasted. The
combination of using heads instead of muscle cuts from tuna,
sourcing from Mauritius Islands’ pristine mercury-free waters, and
our industry leading third-party audits ensures that consumers are
getting the cleanest, most traceable oil available.
We have pioneered the first-ever Non-GMO Project Verified Algal Oil.
This oil is four times more stable than conventional algal oils which
have all been genetically modified. There are undetectable levels of
contaminants along with naturally occurring DPA and SPMs.
Our single-sourced Non-GMO anchovy oil is 100% traceable,
completely closed-loop yielding a whole-fish profile of nutrients
including high levels of Omega-3s and SPMs.
The industry standard for fish oil preservatives is geneticallymodified,
soy-based tocopherols and softgels. We’ve not only
sourced a Non-GMO softgel, we’ve ensured that every step in the
production avoids GMOs, including fishing, sourcing, preserving,
extracting, encapsulation and bottling. This is how we were able to
obtain Non-GMO Project Verification—by building a clean & traceable
supply chain every step of the way.
Our bottles are even made of post-consumer recycled materials! We
recognized that it would be a moot point to build such a clean oil
that is good for our planet and then put it into a virgin plastic bottle.
We designed these oils with science in mind. We teamed up with two
of the leading experts in our industry to formulate these essential
fatty acids. David Pelmutter, MD and Jeffrey Bland, PhD have
decades of experience in the natural industry. They worked directly
with Garden of Life to formulate each of these high-potency oils.

To formulate this new line, we started with the questions “how can
we do it better,” “how can we innovate the fish oil market the same
way we made innovations in probiotics, protein, and multivitamins?”
We had to work backwards. We didn’t create a product and then
find a supplier. We sought a supplier first, that could comply with
the standards we set at Garden of Life. And when we found that this
supply chain didn’t exist, we designed one.
