The Wonders of Egypt
Imagine the most beautiful churches, mosques, and synagogues you’ve ever seen. They are likely nothing compared to those found in Egypt. Their pyramids, too, are one of its most well-known features there, and they help attract many 15 million plus tourists per year; however, there is much more to see than just pyramids in the northwestern African country. Although there has been some recent violence, it does not take away from the many great attractions found there. Their pyramids, mosques, churches, and synagogues are a religious and spiritual lover’s paradise.
One of the main attractions Egypt is known for is their larger-than-life pyramids. Not only is their size significant, but the spiritual connections with each one is just as iconic. Pyramids were built to contain tombs of pharaohs in ancient Egypt, so that aspect makes each pyramid very unique. The Red Pyramid of Dahshur, for example, built for the pharaoh Snefru, is one of the largest pyramids in Egypt and is also the one of the few accessible to the public. The full experience includes an exhilarating walk through the chilling and mysterious passages leading to the actual burial chamber. It is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that can only be found in Egypt.
Some other Egyptian attractions are their many houses of worship; however, Egypt is not as well known for its religious roots, which makes the experience seem even better. The Synagogue in Alexandria is a fine example that has been preserved and kept in great shape. For being over 100 years old, its looks almost new, aided by its’ marble columns. The Hanging Church in Cairo is also one of the most popular churches in Egypt. Dangling over a Roman fortress, the inside of the church is just as breathtaking, lined with 13 pillars that are said to represent Jesus and his apostles. This church is a must see, especially for Christians. Fortunately, there are also amazing mosques located throughout Egypt. The Abu Al-Abbas Al-Mursi is the largest mosque in Alexandria, and is arguably the best tourist attraction there. From its enormous domes to its luminous marble flooring, to its hundreds of years of history, one cannot take a trip to Egypt without visiting this mosque once.Religious and looking for the experience of a lifetime?
