From one man in a beach hut with a laptop and a server, a great idea and a sketchy business plan, plus a serious amount of risk, to real-money games launched on a one billion-member multi-channel anywhere, anytime social network. Gaming’s come a long way in 10 years. And we’ve been there the whole way. Welcome to our 100th issue – our 10th anniversary. In gaming and gaming publishing terms we’re ancient, but I have to say we feel as young and as raring to go as ever, much like the rest of the companies at the top of their game that will feature in our ninth eGaming Review Power 50 in two issues’ time. To celebrate, the eGR team have put their heads together, and gathered the thoughts and opinions of our most trusted industry contacts, and published our top 100 most in?uential individuals (and the occasional company) of the last 10 years... and we think the results make for a great read (see p38 to 55). I thought it was about time we recognised the achievements of those people, personalities and pioneers that have helped to take the industry as far as it has come today. From a business too often associated with shady characters to a legitimate, acceptable form of everyday entertainment, these individuals deserve to be applauded and we hope we’ve done them justice. As we’ve said on numerous occasions throughout this 100th issue, we can’t wait for the next 10 years.
