No part of this publication may be reproduced or used without the prior permission from the publisher October is both my favourite and least favourite time of year – on one hand the days get shorter, darker and the heavens decide to open whenever I choose not to take an umbrella with me to the of?ce, while on the ?ipside once I do make it to the warmth of eGR Towers the team and I get to work on the annual Power 50 list. This year is the second time we have joined forces with business advisory ?rm BDO’s team of gaming experts, sending each operator a ?nancials template with which to show their most recent numbers and an NDA if they prefer these ?gures to remain under lock and key. I’m pleased to say that following last year’s efforts to make this process the most transparent in the industry, we have exceeded our targets with the vast majority of operators complying. Not only that, a handful of private operators agreed to disclose their results for the ?rst time and for that we’re very grateful. The more information we have at our disposal the more robust the list. So, many congratulations to this year’s new entrants, risers and of course our number one – for the third time in a row – bet365. But the boys and girls in Stoke should be more concerned than in previous years. The gap is closing and the likes of William Hill Online (should its valuation of Playtech’s 29% stake be acceptable), a fully energised Paddy Power and a re-focused bwin.party are all eyeing the top spot. My congratulations also go to the companies that have been shortlisted for this year’s eGR operator awards with the ceremony scheduled to take place at the Camden Roundhouse in London on Monday 26 November. My commiserations to those that didn’t quite make it, but best of luck to all the nominees. I look forward to seeing you on the night. 03
