EDITOR'S LETTER It contains the turnaround, acquisition and merger of the year. It contains pro?ts and losses, innovation, expansion and even contraction. Above all it contains winners, those that have risen to challenge, those that are challenging and those that have failed to challenge. Of course, it is the Power 50, a list eGR is famous for. As mentioned in the introduction to the feature itself, we have attempted to set the bar even higher this year and continually improve the amount of information we are able to gather and present. In 2010 we set an independent accountant the task of examining all the publicly available information there was on operators. In 2011 we have gone even further working in association with BDO, one of the world’s largest accounting ?rms, and a number of its senior partners to gather as much public and private data as possible via a specially designed ?nancial template sent to every operator as well as the option of signing an NDA to ensure con?dentiality.  We hope to do this again next year but with even more success as those few operators that were unable to disclose sensitive numbers look to 2011 as a landmark.  I would like to add my personal thanks to BDO and a number of its senior partners for all their valuable time and effort. If you agree or disagree with any of the rankings in this year’s Power 50 or simply want to air your views, I would love to hear from you and publish these responses online.
