WINSTON SCOTT , EFSC Board of Trustee and Former NASA Astronaut , shared his inspirational journey from the segregated schools of his youth in Miami to a high-flying NASA astronaut and Naval aviator in a presentation that wowed the crowd as the featured Speaker at the Simpkins Speaker Series .
“ Trustee Scott is a true and inspiring gift to EFSC and the Brevard Community , “ said Tonya Cherry , Executive Director of Operations . “ He shared his stories , inspired the audience and we all loved how he took time to speak to and take pictures with attendees . It was a great event .”
Simpkins Entrepreneurial Scholarships were presented to EFSC students , Jonathan Honeycutt and Royalyn Darby .
The Simpkins Speaker Series is funded by an endowment created by the late Bernie W . Simpkins , a local Brevard County entrepreneur .
