INDIAFEST , which has become a favorite symbol of cultural enrichment in Brevard County , celebrated its 25th year of bringing Indian tradition to all who attend . One factor of this event is its commitment to Brevard County and giving back to the community . This year ’ s Indiafest committee chose Eastern Florida State College as their ‘ Charity of the Year ’ and established a generous endowment of $ 100,000 to help deserving Brevard County students achieve their educational goals .
On March 5 and 6 , the community gathered at Wickham Park to celebrate . The efforts of the dedicated team of volunteers was evident through all the hands-on activities for youth , cultural activities such as dance , music , yoga and other demonstrations , authentic Indian food , jewelry , clothing , arts and crafts and all-day entertainment .
“ While India is known for its vibrant colors and festive celebrations , philanthropy is also an integral part of our culture ,” said Nina Gadodia , the founder and chairperson of Indiafest since 1996 . “ For this reason , we try to present both a fun-filled festival and raise money to fulfill our commitment to sharing . The planning committee would like to thank all their sponsors for supporting our goal of making education more affordable for deserving Brevard students for many years to come .”

At the sponsor celebration , Jack Parker , Mark Cherry , Tonya Cherry and Cindy Kane were asked to take the stage and share their thoughts on being beneficiaries of the scholarship . Cindy Kane thanked the sponsors for making the dream of education possible for students who otherwise would not be able to go to school . “ What an exciting evening to be with so many generous members of the community and to see how their hard work has benefited so many Brevard County Charities for 25 years ,” said Kane . “ We are so excited to be this Jubilee ’ s benefactor . It is such a wellorganized event and it is a tribute to the hard work of Indiafest ’ s amazing committee .”
“ Indiafest gives people a better understanding of the philosophy of Indian culture ,” added Gadodia . “ Ultimately , it is about mutual understanding and respect for each other , and helping our fellow brothers and sisters , no matter race , religion or creed . It is what makes us better human beings . We are proud to support the EFSC Foundation in this way .”
