Additionally , Dr . Sandy Handfield will be providing direct oversight to the academic deans , the corresponding college-wide faculty chair positions and the efforts to improve existing programs and transition the academic departments to a new “ Guided Pathways ” framework .
The new “ Guided Pathways ” framework will help improve our programs significantly . It will help guide our students to greater levels of academic preparation , a clearer understanding of career goals , articulation and completion of programs of study .
The pathways will be clearly designed to simplify the steps students must take to get to the finish line . Whether that is to transition to a university , get to work faster or stay here and take advantage of our fantastic Bachelor degrees , the pathways will set the stage for their success .
It ’ s all very exciting , Dr . Fletcher . Sounds like hopes are high at EFSC .
I cannot even begin to say how impressed I have been , and continue to be , at the commitment of faculty and staff to our students . The nimble adjustments during the pandemic , the way they are embracing these important changes and how firmly they are grasping the vision give me great confidence . With their continued dedication , I know the college is in very good hands and that we will have positive impact on the success of our students . colleges and universities nationwide . It ’ s a major step forward for us at a time when students are emerging from the COVID-19 pandemic and the difficult challenges they ’ ve faced . This will help them get on track , stay on track and graduate .
Key changes to the new model include the creation of four new dean positions from the former Campus Provost model and transitioning the current academic programs to a new “ Guided Pathways ” framework .
Dr . Phil Simpson now serves as Dean of Arts and Social Sciences and is the administrator for both the Melbourne Campus and Eastern Florida Online . Dr . Dee Sibley is our Dean for STEM and Business programming . She also serves as administrator for both the Cocoa and Palm Bay Campuses . Frank Margiotta is the new Dean
