IT MAY SURPRISE YOU to hear that not everyone has a clear idea of what they want to do with their life . In fact , I was one of those students . I have shared my personal story many times and feel strongly that Eastern Florida State College ( then BCC ) played a pivotal role in my life . The support I received from the outstanding faculty and staff at Eastern Florida ignited my love for learning and set me on the right course for my future .
EFSC gave me the foundation and confidence to succeed , and maybe even more importantly , the desire to want more for my life . That foundation served me well as Sheriff of Brevard County and now in my role as an EFSC Vice President . I am extremely proud of our hometown college and of the generous and caring people of the EFSC Foundation who have been steadfast in supporting the community and meeting the needs of students and local employers . From our visionary President , Dr . Jim Richey , and his outstanding team , to our wise and caring Board of Trustees , to the EFSC Foundation ’ s Board of Directors , everyone has been fully dedicated to providing opportunities to improve the lives of our students and to make EFSC a cuttingedge institution .
As a college , we understand the importance of providing many pathways to career success . The rich educational value of EFSC includes more than the opportunity to earn meaningful degrees and essential workforce certificates . It provides the very foundation of success needed to create the confidence and ability to succeed in a changing world .
The EFSC Foundation is – and has been – a key partner in our students ’ success . The critical nature of the funds raised by the Foundation cannot be overstated . Maybe even more important than the actual funds students receive is how those funds demonstrate to our students that people care and believe in them . Generous donations from individuals and companies have changed and improved the lives of tens of thousands of students and helped to set them on a successful course at a critical time in their lives . Making the dream of education a reality for our students has always been the top priority of the Foundation . Now , more than ever before , we need your support . We can ’ t do it without you . Thank you for your dedication to EFSC and your generosity shown to our students .
My life is just one of many examples of how the amazing faculty and staff at Eastern Florida , coupled with the generosity and caring of others , can be truly life changing .
