FIREFIGHTER ARTICULATION AGREEMENT CREATED WITH BREVARD PUBLIC SCHOOLS

At the request of the County Manager , Frank Abbate , Brevard Public Schools and EFSC have been working together to take advantage of the state ’ s allowance to teach the first phase of the Firefighting Academy to students while in high school .
As a result , Brevard Public Schools now has students in various phases of the program who are excited about a firefighting career . As soon as the students turn 18 years of age , they are enrolled in the Live Fire Training exercises at Eastern Florida State College ’ s Fire Training Center , in addition to becoming eligible to participate in their second phase of training to achieve their State Firefighter Certification .
As a result of this great program , students now have a head start at completing the required extensive training and fulfilling their dream of becoming firefighters . This effort is a strong example of how various governmental entities can come together to address critical public safety needs .
“ EASTERN FLORIDA STATE COLLEGE IS PROUD TO BE A PART OF THIS OUTSTANDING INITIATIVE . ENSURING STUDENT SUCCESS IS A TOP PRIORITY FOR
ALL OF US AT EFSC AND OUR STRONG PARTNERSHIP WITH BREVARD PUBLIC SCHOOLS IS VITALLY IMPORTANT .”
