EXPERIENCE Get Established • Get Connected • Get Going
Eastern Florida State College launched the First Year Experience ( FYE ) at the beginning of the Fall 2024 academic year as a collegewide initiative to connect all new students with Eastern Florida State College resources — plus connect them with other students as they learn about student life , support services , and the overall college culture .
FYE was designed specifically with students , retention , and completion in mind . The programming gives students a chance to start their collegiate journey in a positive way , preparing them with accurate information , and providing them with ongoing chances to connect with fellow students , staff , and faculty throughout their entire first year at EFSC .
In addition , the Quality Enhancement Goal ( QEP ) 3 Success and Support module is embedded into its programming through a Canvas course students are asked to complete during their first year .
First Year Program participants are defined as traditional “ first-time-in-college ” ( FTIC ) students , prior dual enrolled students who have graduated , and transfer students who attended classes or were scheduled to attend classes for the first time during the 2024 Summer or Fall terms .
“ The Orientation course allowed me to get to know the Academic Success Center . I also really connected with my advisor and got so much help . I value the First Year Experience program for the awesome opportunities and meetups they ’ ve offered so far this year !”
