LEAP to Success
All-Florida Academic Team
Growing numbers of students participated in the LEAP
program that awards accelerated credit towards their
degrees based on prior experience in the workplace. (Student
Enrollment, Diversity Initiatives, Financial Management) Ten Eastern Florida State College students were named to
the 2019 All-Florida Academic Team for their outstanding
scholarship and work in the community.

• The program, which stands for Life Experience Acceleration
Path, is another way the College offers non-traditional
students the chance to advance their education. • The representatives tied the EFSC record set in 2018 when 10
students from the College also made the team.
• Nearly 4,200 students have participated in the program since
it began in 2015, with 826 participating in 2019.
• Students are given credit for knowledge gained in fields such
as the military, real estate, banking, business, childcare, health
care and computer science.
• Students can document their experience through exams,
military and industry certification records, high school
advanced standing and other means.
• A maximum 45 hours of accelerated credit can be applied
toward an Associate Degree.
• Students must complete at least 25 percent of their degree
through courses taken at EFSC.

2019 College Accomplishments
• The All-Florida Academic Team consists of 158 students from
the 28-member Florida College System that includes Eastern
Florida.
• They were selected from among more than 800,000 students
statewide.
• The students were from the Titusville, Cocoa and Melbourne
campuses.
• They were also nominated by Eastern Florida to the All-USA
Academic Team competition sponsored by the Phi Theta
Kappa International Honor Society.
