Summit of Seven
The college hosted the 26th annual Summit of Seven
Boys and Mens Conference that provides mentors and
role models for youth with about 1,000 members of the
community attending. (Student Enrollment, Diversity
Initiatives, Trustee Relations, Community Awareness)
Highlights:
• The summit is the largest gathering of its kind in
Brevard County and among the largest in Central
Florida.
• The program included motivational speakers and
workshops on subjects such as education, law
enforcement, personal ethics and teamwork.
•
Campus tours provided an opportunity to
showcase the college’s new academic programs
and buildings to hundreds of potential students
and their parents.
• Dozens of corporate and community groups also
participated.
• The keynote speaker was retired Navy Cmdr.
Donnie Cochran, the first African-American aviator
to join the Navy’s famed Blue Angels precision
flying team and command of the unit.
• Attendees also met members of the Tuskegee
Airmen, the famous African-American fighter
pilots in World War II who were the nation’s first
black military aviators.
