Grew EFSC Foundation
Continued growing the EFSC Foundation through
new initiatives that increased donations for student
scholarships and raised the Foundation’s visibility
in the community. (Student Enrollment, Diversity
Initiatives, Financial Management, Trustee Relations,
Community Awareness)
Foundation Highlights:
• The Foundation’s managed investments reached
$21.3 million, the largest ever.
• The Foundation’s endowment reached nearly
$11.2 million, the largest ever.
• Awarded $353,000 in scholarships to 344 students
in Fall 2017, or 115 more students and twice the
amount of money awarded during the same
period in 2016.
• This year also saw 10 new scholarships created for
students in fields such as health care, aviation and
those pursuing general studies.
• Hosted 4th Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament
fundraiser, raising more than $90,000.
• Hosted “Titan’s Toast to Health” fundraiser at the
new Health Sciences Institute, raising more than
$82,000.
• Second Annual Titan Fund Campaign resulted in
funds reaching $100,000.
• The Boniface Hiers Automotive Group
contributed $50,000 for student scholarships to
the Foundation.
• Received $25,000 donation for endowed
scholarship from Cape Design Engineering Co.,
and a $28,000 endowed scholarship from Space
Coast Health Foundation for students at the
Health Sciences Institute.
• Received $15,000 grant for student scholarships
in nursing and health care from the Brevard Indo-
American Medical and Dental Association.
• Received $10,000 donation from the Harris
Foundation to help women and minority students
at the college’s Public Safety Institute realize their
goal of careers in public service.
• Started quarterly EFSC Foundation Matters
newsletter to all alumni to keep them posted on
the Foundation’s work.
• Hosted the Titan Scholarship Reception where
donors met with students who received
scholarships thanks to their generosity.
Chancellor’s Aviation Program Award
College’s Aviation Maintenance Technology earned a
Chancellor’s Best Practice Award from the Florida College
System for “innovation and excellence in launching
exciting careers in aviation.” (Student Enrollment,
Employee Relations, Community Awareness)
Award Highlights:
• “I applaud Eastern Florida for their commitment
to excellence and innovation in our system,”
said Florida College System Chancellor Madeline
Pumariega.
• “It is this commitment that keeps the Florida
College System in the forefront as a national
leader in higher education,” she said.
• The program, based at Melbourne International
Airport, reflects the college’s commitment to
working closely with industry and business
partners on a central goal.
• Providing students with new educational
opportunities that can lead to good jobs after
graduation, with companies reaping the benefits
of gaining skilled employees.
• The program stands out for what can happen
when vision combines with workforce needs
to give people great careers and help our local
economy.
• The college began the program in 2015 to provide
a pipeline of skilled workers to the area’s rapidly
expanding aviation sector.
