Participation and Interactive Communication: Since the lessons are teacher-
student centered and are conducted individually, then participation and
communication in this case are very important tools to assess learners’ listening and
speaking skills in addition to their confidence in speaking in the target language.
Observation and Monitoring: The main goal of this course is to monitor the
development of learners’ language skills in terms of grammar, vocabulary,
pronunciation, intonation, listening, speaking, reading and writing. This is done by
providing the learners with a feedback form of each lesson acknowledging what they
still need to work on and improve.
Presentation: The core purpose of this part of the lesson is to provide the students
with different activities to recite the vocabulary they acquired and practice the
grammar they learnt to assure that their knowledge is being put into action in each
lesson.
Review Test: The purpose of those tests is to review and assess the students level of
attainment every five weeks in order to measure the learning objectives of the course
in terms of confidence, vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, intonation, listening,
speaking and writing.
Picture Journal: The main purpose of this part of the lesson is to explain to learners
how English differs from Chinese in terms of writing and spelling since it is a
monosyllabic and non-alphabetic language. Moreover, it aims to make writing a fun
experience for them and not daunting.
