PAINTBALL
By Vilde Christine Hermansen
Sunday, the 13th of October, 18 IB, A-level
and IGCSE students from EF Academy
went to Torbay Paintball to play. The day
started out nice, with no rain and an okay
temperature. We travelled by three taxis
and we noticed how beautiful Devon
really is as we drove through narrow roads
with bushes on both sides. Deep down it
gave us the feeling of actually being in
England, especially the countryside.
The journey wasn’t that long, and we
arrived after a couple minutes of walking.
After having dressed in camouflage suits
and put on our masks and paintball guns
with paint-bullets, we were more than
ready for the fight. However, we hadn’t
even got to the arena before someone
was shot in the stomach. Whoops! And
that’s how the afternoon continued,
hiding, shooting, being shot, laughing,
having fun, taking a break, winning and
losing and changing to different battle
arenas.
At the end I think everybody was ready
to go home. It had started raining and
people were beginning to feel the aches
and pains from the “bullet wounds”. There
certainly were a nice number of blue,
circular bruises on each of us as a trophy
for daring to even go out there and play.
Finally our dear birthday girl got the
honour of receiving the last of the bullets
from the guys as they shot her wishing
her a happy birthday. At least that’s a
present she’ll remember!
