When our lives change

I
think our lives never stop changing.
Sometimes we don’t realise it, other
times, when important things happen
in our lives, we do. Those times can be
sad or joyous, crushing or fulfilling. We
are the ones that make the choice of what
to do with them. Graduation is for many
people one of those joyous moments.
For some people it’s a change they’ve
been longing for as they will be going to
university or maybe go traveling around
the world.
From the start of Graduation week, we
all started counting down the days until
we stood there on the stage. We made
sure our clothes were ready for the
big day, and also chatted and talked
about who were going with. Suddenly,
Friday arrived and we set our alarms

to wake up early and make ourselves
look “smart” as the British say. We
went to school, knowing this day would
bring change to many people’s lives.
We arrived to Torre Abbey with coaches
we had taken from school and the
graduating students got into their
black robes and mortarboards. As the
ceremony was about to start, all I could
think of was whether to keep my jacket
on or not. I didn’t want to seem rude, but
it was super cold in there. Then, when
Trevor (Our head teacher) had held his
speech and prices and diplomas started
to be given out, I found myself thinking.
I myself was not graduating, still being
in my first year, but seeing all those
people walk up on that stage to claim
their price and to afterwards be able to
