EF Academy Torbay Impact Magazine IB 2 Art Exhibiton | Page 3

Note from the head of art On Thursday, 14th April, IB Year 2 Visual Arts students from EF Academy Torbay held their annual exhibition of art work. The exhibition takes nearly two years to plan and students curate it themselves, using the work they produced and arranging it in a way that supports how they want their audience to experience the show. This exhibition was fantastic, showing a wide range of ideas, media and influences from personal and cultural issues to political statements, as well as an array of skills from the traditional drawing and painting to digital art and sculpture. It reflected our students and their ethos as IB students and individuals perfectly. No work, idea or space was the same as another. Neil Abott, one of our guidance counselors commented: “Just wanted to say, in writing, how utterly brilliant the art on display was. I was so impressed, not only by the quality, but also the variety. It seemed to my uneducated eye that each student had expressed themselves through the medium of art rather than conform to some prearranged decision as to how and what it had to be like.”
