Hair, beard, muscles and voice A boy will never come to his parents out of his own free will, to chat about the physical changes, because it will poke at his ego and injure his self-esteem. When your boy is growing a beard for the first time, let his dad sit down with him and talk to him about shaving. Take your boy to any store so that he can pick out his own razor and shaving cream or gel, this helps him to be more comfortable and to be in control of his situation. Let his father carefully assist him one morning, when he is ready, to shave the newly formed hair carefully. Talk to him about growing chest, arm and leg hair. Gently inform him that his voice will start to be squeaky and soon it will lower in pitch. Assure your son that this is all part of the physical changes that he will experience. Mom, you too can inform your boy that his deepened voice will attract the young ladies and due to the hormonal changes in his body and the release of testosterone he will be more attracted to girls than ever before.
