What is hybrid learning??
Hybrid learning (also called blended
learning or even “flipping the
classroom”!) is a mix of online and
in-school learning. Basically, hybrid
learning combines traditional teaching
methods with online technology
to custom-make teaching for each
student. Classroom work can be done
at a pace that matches the maturity
and intelligence level of the student,
rather than a class average.
Also, it can really transform traditional
classroom teaching by turning a
mundane lesson that seems to go on
forever, into a truly interactive one.
Just imagine teachers being able
to reach students on an individual
level by using personalised options,
including games, interactive visuals,
real-world examples and immediate
feedback ... It opens up the classroom
for all students to learn how they learn
best!
A bit of history
Hybrid learning has existed for quite some time.
Even before the age of computers and social
networks, teachers created hybrid learning
experiences by using simple tools like paper and
pencil, incorporating different activities in a variety
of environments to highlight learning material.
Think of in-service training, as an example.
These days hybrid learning relies more on
technology, with the internet and computers
offering an almost unlimited learning experience.
