SECTION VI: TERTIARY EDUCATION IN ST. VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES

The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College (SVGCC) is the lone state-owned institution that provides post-secondary/tertiary level certifications. This college is an integrated body which brought together the A Level College, Technical College, Teachers College and the School of Nursing.  The Community College has four divisions that include: The Division of Arts, Science and General Studies, Division of Technical and Vocational Education, Division of Nursing Education and Division of Teacher Education.  The College is governed by the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College Act 2005 and is managed by a board. The subvention allocated to the college for 2021 was EC$ 13,658,000.

A number of persons are accessing university level training locally. The University of the West Indies, Open Campus which is a regional university campus offers several online degree programmes. There are also a number of foreign medical colleges with campuses on the island. These medical colleges cater primarily for foreign students however, there are a few Vincentian students enrolled at some of these campuses. The National Accreditation Unit has started the process of registering all tertiary institutions operating in St Vincent and the Grenadines. To date nine (9) such institutions have been registered these include: St. James University, Trinity Medical College, All Saints Medical School, National Centre of Technological Innovation Inc. (NCTI), the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College, American University of St. Vincent, Baptist Bible College of the Caribbean, Bethel Bible College, St. Vincent and the Grenadines Campus and MINTS St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
