Library Management Software
The information management system used at the National Public Library, Calliaqua Branch Library and the Georgetown Branch Library is Alexandria. Alexandria is an application that helps to manage the library collection and allows patrons to fully access the bibliographic data of this collection. The other branch libraries still issue books manually by using the Brown System.
All books and other resources are processed centrally at the National Public Library in Kingstown. They are then distributed to all branch libraries throughout the country.
The way forward
The National Public Library, Archives and Documentation Centre will continue to implement and develop programmes and services that will benefit the citizens of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
The library’s collection will be further strengthened by the incorporation of various media to meet the evolving informational needs of our diverse communities.
The library’s commitment to developing a service for the blind will continue through the sourcing and provision of material.
The promotion and development of a positive image of the profession and the Department will continue through training and marketing.
Library hours will be extended in order to increase accessibility to the library and to ensure that the growing information needs of the public are met.
