Zoo Sprouts: The goal of this initiative is to provide integrated science and nature experiences while introducing the Zoo as a resource for positive recreational activity. Since 2013, the Zoo has been serving early childhood audiences from disadvantaged socioeconomic backgrounds through a partnership with Brevard County Public Schools’ Head Start and Step FOURward programs. Zoo Sprouts entails teacher training for the Growing Up Wild curriculum, in-school outreach and nature kits for classrooms. Each session concludes with a free “Family Day at the Zoo” and a complimentary one-year membership. 8
