Homeschool: The number of homeschooled children in the United States is growing at a steady pace each year. To help meet the needs of this burgeoning population, the Zoo began offering science classes to homeschooled students in 2010. These curriculum-based programs serve students ages 5-12 with 90 slots across six monthly classes. One of our most popular programs is the annual “Lagoon Day.” This in-water, hands-on experience is similar to Lagoon Quest, which is offered to most Brevard Public Schools fourth graders. Between 2016 and 2018, registration increased by 80 percent and a total of 1,512 students have participated as of late 2018. 10
