FrogWatch USA
Frogs are indicator species and their
populations are among the first to decline when
environmental conditions take a turn for the
worse. This nationwide program, facilitated by
the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, relies
on information collected by citizen scientists
to assess the status of native amphibians.
Since 2010, we have hosted annual training
sessions for families for the local chapter of this
nationwide program. The observational data
our families submit help ecologists determine
where certain species are and develop effective
conservation strategies.
