Students Carry the Torch for the Next Generation

At the time the black and white photo was taken I was wondering where my mathematics degree would take me and what would be my contribution to society . I went on to obtain my Masters of Mathematics and Bachelors of Education and teach mathematics in high school in Regina . In the meantime , I was also a sessional lecturer for the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Regina . I returned to university to earn a Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction and I am presently an associate professor of Mathematics Education in the Faculty of Education at the University of Regina .
As I reflect back and then look to the future , my hope is that our mathematics education students will begin their teaching careers with the pedagogical understandings it took me a career to obtain . The continuum from black and white to colour to me signifies the
