50 EDITÉUR PLUS most tasks herself from designing, patterns, grading and cutting to costing, graphic design, client liaison and administration. She does, however, have a few staff members who assist her with consignment sales and sewing. This is yet another way in which Isabelle shows her passion for social responsibility. She values ‘treating her team well as well as invest- ing in skills development and empowerment’. She also runs a mentorship programme called Develop- ing Designer that helps young designers who are just starting out establish a brand and find their feet in the industry. Perhaps it is this heart for develop- ment that would keep her networking with smaller designers as opposed to working with a large cor- porate brand. It is a global trend that consumers and businesses are being more aware of their environmental and social impact. It is refreshing and exciting to see that the fashion industry is no different. The landscape of fashion is changing. Trend seeking shoppers are looking for more than just eye-catching clothes. They are looking for fashion that is personal. They want fashion with a heart that is deeply embed- ded in the South African culture. This is fashion by SIES!isabelle. Joining the cause of the Fashion Revolution is close to Isabelle’s heart. SIES!isabelle designer clothing can be found in a variety of South African stores such as The Space stores, Zando and directly from the SIES!isabelle studio near Johannesburg. ‘I love being more in- volved with the end client, interacting with her and sharing my passion for what I’ve created,’ she added.
