I am 22 years old and an only child . I have been modelling
EDITÉUR PLUS full time for the past four years . I left school straight into modelling , so I never studied anything . I have recently started working full time for a technical events company , as an aspiring event and fashion show producer . I grew up in Pretoria and still reside there . I went Presda Primary and Curro College for high school . I had a very happy childhood , despite my parents being divorced . I have extremely supportive and loving parents . Growing up , our family did struggle but this thought me so independence , and I am grateful for not having it easy as strange as it may sound , but it grew me into the strong woman I am today .
WHAT LED YOU TO SAY YES TO YOUR FIRST MODELLING JOB ? ARE THERE ANY MODELS WHO YOU ADMIRE , WHO INSPIRED YOU TO MAKE THAT INITIAL CHOICE ?
I wouldn ’ t say there are any models I admired growing up or right now . I think I have always wanted to be myself and make my own mark in the industry , without being compared to anyone . Modeling was never something I really thought of but it came about rather naturally for me .
I ASSUME YOU HAVE REPRESENTED QUITE A FEW BRANDS IN YOUR CAREER . DO YOU HAVE A CHOICE OF WHICH BRANDS YOU PREFER TO MODEL FOR ? ARE THERE ANY WHICH STAND OUT TO YOU AS BRANDS YOU WOULD WANT TO WORK FOR AGAIN ?
I have worked with a lot of the big designers in South Africa , walking their fashion week shows . I absolutely love working with designers such as Suzaan Heyns , JJ Schoeman , Khosi Nkosi , Quitera and George , Thula Sindi , Rich Mnisi , Erre , Ruff Tung , Tsotetsi KL and TN Collective . I absolutely love the vision of all of these designers and they are such amazing people to work . These are designers that have given me opportunities in the industry for growth and that has recognized my passion for runway , giving me the honour of opening and closing their shows .
DO YOU PREFER BEING ON THE RUNWAY OR AT A LOCATION / STUDIO SHOOTING PICTURES ?
As a model who doesn ’ t love doing both . But everyone knows how extremely passionate I am about the runway . Its where my strength lies as a model , I absolutely love the atmosphere and seeing the whole show come together . And of course , it goes without saying that fashion week is my absolute favourite time of the year .
