THE FONTSELF FONTSELF TURNS ANY HANDWRITING AND LETTERING INTO AN OPENTYPE FONT IN JUST A FEW MINUTES. WE WILL HAVE A LITTLE LOOK AT FONTS, AND DISCOVER WHY, WE SHOULD CREATE MORE UNIQUE HANDWRITTEN FONTS. N ow to the one thing we all have a terribly close relationship to. We are of course talking about the fonts. Whatever it has been concious or the opposite, in some direction everyone of us has a relationship to it. The fonts. Weather it's the joy in child's eye when the Coca Cola logo is seen or the weird love/hate relationship to the font Comic Sans. We can't really ignore it. The popular ones are the ones we see the everywhere. Those we knew from the School Assignment, guiding that this specific assignemtn SHOULD be written in Times New Roman due to readability. Typography really is the power of expressing words and ideas visually. And the font you use to express yourself, has a magnificent effect on the receiver. "first" typeface, Black Letter. Though Guthenberg and Black Letter revolutionized the way of written communication, Black Letter was not the optimal typeface for print. So in the 15th century Nicolas Jenson introduced the first Roman Type typeface inpired by ancient roman buildings. He called it Jenson. A font that was more readable and clear than Black Letter, gaining instant success across Europe. Hereafter came the italics, the slant type. Italics could fit more letters into a page, while still being readable, why people could save a certain amount of money. It was not untill the 18th century in Britain, that history of typography changed, when William Caslon created a new typeface that set new standards for legibility. Caslon was a Serif font. Serif fonts then was categorized into Old Style, Transition and Modern due the different thickness of the font. Williams Caslon's great grandson decided to cut the serif's introducing Sans Serif fonts. Now advertising and other branches played with a variety of this style, and soon typography was digitalized allowing everyone to create their personal typeface. THE HISTORY To get an idea of when all of this typography started we need to turn back to probably before we even know of - since it is related to all written text that was created. Let's ignore the bible and munks and all the old scripts that was written such a long time ago. At this time it was time-comsuming and expensive.
