Take the January 6th attack at the US Capitol building as an example . When the building was stormed , personnel inside the building were alerted quickly and ushered to safe locations .

However , the building itself was not properly locked down . Doors were left wide open , and rudimentary barricades were often easily overcome .

This allowed people to roam freely entering offices and chambers unimpeded .
