Student-led Drama to Enhance Teaching and Learning Richard Kyle , School of Health & Social Care , Senior Fellow In collaboration with Catherine Mahoney , Fiona Bastow , Bruce Harper-McDonald and Linda Veitch
Cracks tells the story of Bob and Debbie , whose lives gradually interweave to show stark differences in health outcomes due to inequitable access to health and social care services . It was written and directed by Trisha Jeram , a student nurse in the School of Health & Social Care , and acted by students , staff and members of the public . Film studies students from the School of Arts & Creative Industries produced Cracks which is now embedded into an undergraduate nursing module on health and social care integration . Cracks was performed to the public at Summerhall , Edinburgh in June 2019 through a novel combination of live action and recorded footage from the film . Following requests from other universities , Cracks will be taken ‘ on the road ’ during 2020 . This will showcase this innovative , student-led , approach to teaching and learning to support nursing students across the UK grapple with the complex reality of health and social care integration .
