Vindicating the Vixens
with Sandra Glahn
Women are our mothers, sisters, daughters, best friends, lead-
ers, inspirations, heroes. They are givers of life, protectors of our
children, our bosses, our companions. Frankly, as a man, you
should be acutely aware that we would be in big trouble without
women. As a woman ... you are already aware.
Examine some the “Bad Girls” in the Bible in a
new light as these scriptures are revisited by a
group of biblical scholars.

As a son, I think you would agree that you would not want
ANYONE treating your mother with disrespect. As a husband,
no one is going to hurt or underpay your partner. As a father, you
want your daughter to be whatever she wants to be and no one
is going to stand in her way.
I’m just a girl
I’m just a girl in the world
That’s all that you’ll let me be!
“Just a Girl” - by No Doubt
Don’t be that dad, brother, son, husband, friend, employee!
Honestly, encouragement and respect is how we should treat all
women and, in reality , all of God’s children. But the sad facts are
that, besides less pay and workplace harassment in the western
world, is that from a global perspective women are not only not
treated as equals, but as property. The statistics from The World
Health Organization (WHO) are that one in three woman have
experienced physical or sexual abuse in their lifetime. In many
parts of the world women are treated as sub-human, enslaved
in sex trade, or even mutilated as part of tradition. None of this
is acceptable and more needs to be done to stop these atrocities
. In this issue of EOF we will examine some of these issues for
awareness, study women of the bible and celebrate the achieve-
ment of other women and, of course, enjoy some wonderful art.
