Lights, Camera, Action
The company you associate more with navigation technology is now launching into the action camera market the VIRB. The Garmin device takes advantage of the growing action sports environment creating a 1080p video camera which will shoot video for up to three hours including getting dunked, shocked, and jiggled around. You know, all that jiggling, dunking and shocking stuff you would normally get up to, outdoors. Its rugged construct combines a camcorder and telescope design and by using Garmin’s proprietary wireless technology ANT+ your durable action cam will sync with compatible Garmin devices including having control over it from select GPS products. A more pricier VIRB Elite includes Wi-Fi and lets you connect with your smartphone as well as giving you speed, elevation, location and heart rate, all of which can be displayed on the video playback. Digital stabilisation is essential and effective plus the thoughtful gadget includes a Ski Mode that pauses when you climb on board the chairlift. The ‘activity’ market is seeing rapid growth and with it will come more competition from device worthy companies like Garmin who have made an impressive mark on the action cam playing field.
