In 1998 Hollywood churned out two films with a remarkably similar premise. Large space objects are on a collision course with Earth and the only people who can save the planet are heroic astronauts, government officials and even your all-American everyman. The two films were Armageddon and Deep Impact and while you may think they were spawned from the mind of a scifi obsessed screenwriter it was actually a comet hitting Jupiter in 1994 that inspired these apocalyptic-themed blockbusters.
