UL TRA SEPTEMBER 2013 WELCOME long with household robots, jetpacks and dinners in a pill form, a world of electric cars were up until a few years ago one of those far away, futuristic sci-fi concepts. While we are a long way away from living like the Jetsons just yet the concept of the world’s roads dominated by electric cars doesn’t seem like such a fantasy any more. A few generations of hybrid cars have helped pave the way. The initial limitations of electric cars have been resolved with better battery technology which has increased distances and allowed for electric cars to take advantage of their inherent torque and incredible acceleration. The success of companies like Tesla have proven the demand for such vehicles and have succeed in changing the way that we view them. No longer are they slow little novelties which will get you as far as the corner store, they are now desirable, high performance supercars. And the more this happens, the greater the demand and then the more research and investment can be justified which speeds up this development even more. We are indeed at the tipping point of the electric car revolution. Get ready for the ride. A Andre Rowell
