Shadow of Silence, a Philadelphia based band, who the moment I heard them, knew it would make my trip to see Nation Xer0 that much better.

The set played by SOS lasted not nearly long enough as I found myself hypnotized by the vocals of front man Blade Thornton. There is something pretty familiar, yet totally different in his vocal style. When interviewing the band, the one thing the band said seperated them from many others in the Philly scene is the high quality of Blade's vocals and I can tell you that they are awesome!

The more than adequate guitar parts provided by Sam McKee, solid drumming by Duncan McKee and tight bass playing by Tom Koelzer led to a great time for my ears.

The only things that I felt could be better were creating a more powerful image and commanding the stage better. I think part of the stage command would probably be enhanced by playing on a larger stage and having the additional room to move.

This may sound odd, but they did a hard rock remake of the 80's song, "Land Down Under" by Men at Work, that I hope makes it onto their album, because it was nothing short of off the hook cool. Take the time to check out their single Voices, produced by Halestorm's producer David Ivory.

I envision Shadow of Silence making their making on the Philadelphia scene. Get the single. Give them a listen and I think you will really enjoy Shadow of Silence.
