Correction : In the Feb . 6 Transitions piece on the passing of former ACSA President Emma Hulett , the name of Norwalk-La Mirada USD , where Hulett worked , was incomplete .
ACSA Region 1 President Chris Hartley has been named the new superintendent of Humboldt COE . Hartley has served as superintendent of Northern Humboldt Union HSD since 2013 . n n n
Kings Canyon USD Superintendent Juan Garza has announced his retirement , effective June 30 .

Natomas USD has announced that Doug Orr has accepted a promotion to associate superintendent . Orr ’ s responsibilities will now include leadership of the Facilities and Strategic Planning , Human Resources , and the Constituent and Customer Service Departments . Angela Herrera , assistant superintendent , will lead the Human Resources department .
The district also announced the promotion of Diana Curtaz who is now supporting Curriculum and Instruction through professional development and school site support as a Coordinator .
