Resolutions to request Prop . 51 funding
The Coalition for Adequate School Housing is gearing up a push for the implementation of Proposition 51 school facilities bonds .
Prop . 51 was passed in 2016 , despite a lack of enthusiasm from Gov . Brown . Since that time , he has moved at a glacial pace to sell the desperately-needed bond sales .
Just taking into account the number of requests that are currently in the pipeline , it would take another three years for the projects that have been waiting to actually receive their funding – a delay of six years .
School districts statewide have still been suffering the residual effects of the recession in this area . It is estimated that more than $ 2 billion in facilities projects is backed up in the pipeline awaiting funding . Because the state has been out of money since 2012 , some school districts have been waiting on state matching funds for the past five years .
CASH is requesting that all school districts and county offices of education submit a resolution to their state representatives asking the state to live up to the will of the voters that passed Prop . 51 .
A sample resolution can be found on the CASH website at http :// wp . me / a3NgTr-Ir .
