Steppeland birds in La Antigua
Páramo, Órbigo and Esla
Land of deeply rooted traditions with an area of 8.036
hectares protected by a SPA
(Special Protection Area) and
another 806 by SCI (Site of
Community Importance). It has
the perfect eco-system for the
heaviest flying bird in the world,
the impressive great bustard,
you can see flocks from the
roadside and even though
you can see small lake birds
like little grebes and moorhens,
the most typical group of birds
in the area is the steppe-land
birds: Montagu’s harriers, hen
harriers, lesser kestrels, little bustards, crested larks and calandra lark.
