The Andes provides a home to the endangered chinchilla which is greatly endangered due to its over hunting for its fur in 1940 . As well as this majority of the Andes , particularly the southern point is all glacier which is rapidly melting due to increased temperatures . Decimated crops , reduced fish stocks and complete destruction to villages are all the result of increasing temperatures .
