Conclusion

Even though breastfeedfeeding is not convenient, it provides numerous benefits, both in terms of health and finances. Many factors do play a role in the prevalence of breastfeeding. Since 1993 the percentage of mothers to breastfeed has increased a significant amount; however, the number of mothers to breastfeed for a duration of 6 months or longer has remained relatively stagnant. In order for breastfeeding rates to keep increasing - and for mothers to feel more able to breastfeed for a longer duration - certain changes should be put into effect, such as paid maternity leave in the US, more education available for new mothers, and society needs to become more accepting of the practice of breastfeeding.
