Dear Faune, Faune, our darling, our first furbaby to leave this world, when I think of you, my heart aches, but my mind smiles at so many happy memories that you have given us. It is so difficult to put into words the loss we feel without you present, but you will always be a part of our family. You crossed the country with us, by truck and plane – you did not like airport security! Now, as we prepare to relocate again, we will take you with us, but I will miss seeing you play in (ahem, eat) the grass along the way, as you’ve done in years past. I know you are checking in on us from time to time, and I felt your presence on Dia de Los Muertos. You were such an amazing sister to your siblings, always there to groom and cuddle them. It took you awhile to warm up to the kittens, but once you did, we were one big happy family. You and your brother set such wonderful examples for the young kittens. Now, our family has expanded with a new set of kittens. Every day, I think about how you would care for your newest siblings, teaching them, licking them, cuddling them… I am grief-stricken that they will never know their older sister, who was taken from us so suddenly and so young! That day is etched in my brain, but I focus on the good times, like when you laid on my chest and chewed my hair. If only you could do that again! Or sit “paws-crossed”. Still, I see your influence and even some of your traits in all of our furbabies – even the kittens. It warms my heart. Til we meet again, baby girl.
