winners of Eco wi-Fi Zone design
contest announced
E
co-Rom Ambalaje has
chosen the winning
project of the Eco Wi-Fi
Zone Design contest –
a green Wi-Fi area
that serves as a
place for relaxation
and is 100% ecological and provided with Internet
access. The contest was
held on November 5-30,
2013, as a continuation of the organization’s efforts to support young
architects or design specialists and to
offer local administration an attractive,
useful area for the community, with a
minimal impact on nature.
The contest brought together 68 projects by young architects – students
or fresh graduates and practitioners of architecture or design,
and three of these projects were
able to meet the contest’s criteria
and win the top three awards.
The winning project will come to life next
year, in the city that will win the title of
Town of Recycling 2014, during the
eponymous competition held between
January 1 and June 30 this year.
“DECO – connection, collection”, the
most creative project for the organization
of a green, Wi-Fi area, and winner of the
competition’s first prize, was chosen due
to its unique design of articulated organic materials and shapes. It is based
on the principle of balance between
human beings and nature, being made
entirely of wood and having a modern,
unusual shape. This space offers relaxation places, a bicycle parking space,
free Wi-Fi Internet access, solar panels
and separate packaging waste collection
areas.
The project’s creators, winners of the
Eco Wi-Fi Zone Design contest, are
Andrei Denisa Johanna, Mihai Brad and
Vlad Popa, all of them current architects
and former students of the Bucharest Ion
Mincu University’s Architecture School.

The project that came in second was created by Marton Annamaria, Biro Katalin
and Mihaly Zsofia, architects and former
students of the Cluj Napoca Architecture
School. This project proposes a special
area made of relaxation modules powered up by solar energy and provided
with Wi-Fi Internet access, which also include special areas for separate waste
collection, and information panels. The
project can be easily adjusted to be implemented anywhere in the country and
is made entirely of reused materials:
metal, wood, glass, rubber.
The project that won third place was created by Bogdan Costea, a former student
of the Oradea Architecture School. The
project consists of modules based on
used container frames and wood board
enclosures, the entire installation having
a green area at its center. The project
aims as offering visitors private information and relaxation spaces.
The projects were evaluated based on
the following criteria: esthetic and func-
tional qualities of the project, whether it
offers a sustainable, modern solution
that is harmoniously incorporated in the
space, and how easy it is to adapt and
implement anywhere across the country.
The jury that chose the winning projects consisted of
renowned architects: Adrian
Ciocăzanu,

Kuibus,
Adrian
Spirescu, Dorin
Ștefan and Robert
