SeaGen Turbine
SeaGen Turbine - The world's largest hydro-turbine turbine (located in Strangford Lough, Ireland).
Similar to wind turbines, but
powered by water rather than
wind, hydroelectric turbines
turn the currents from the
ocean depths into electricity.
SeaGen is currently the only
such commercial-scale turbine
in the world, generating 1.2
megawatts. It consists of a
pair of turbines, each 20
meters in diameter, operating
in the underwater
environment. The ability of
blades to rotate 180 degrees
allows them to follow the
direction of the sea currents to make the most of their potential. By 2015, the SeaGen turbine has
been overwhelmed by a massive Southwest Canal Hydroelectric Turbine Wando Hoenggan, which
was built in partnership with Lunar Energy and the Korean Energy Company for $ 820 million. By
generating 300 megawatts of electricity, the 300 megawatt turbines, 18 meters tall, are anchored in
the seabed by their own weight.

SOLAR BATTERIES
In the past people were using fire to get warm but it was polluting the world. They were
burning trees, coal, gas and liquid fuel. These days in a fast-moving world everything is
different. We can use alternative energy which prevents air pollution. This type of energy is
renewableand it is cheaper. People are able to control and save environment which can
result in cleaner air. Alternative energy is, for instance, windmills, solar batteries. In
Lithuania we have a lot of solar batteries and some windmills.
Now I will tell you more in detail about solar batteries. They produce the energy from the
sun light. The only expenses are for the solar battery, which are not very cheap, but leads to
saving money when talking about long term advantages. Furthermore, it helps to create a
better world with more nature saved and less pollution.
In my opinion it is a really good way to save the world and get more energy which can
always renew when you have sunlight or wind. Every year pollution is sadly getting bigger
and more dangerous. Maybe in the future people will not know about gas or liquid fuel, they
will just use alternative energy instead. Moreover, people should do their best to make the
world a better and cleaner place for the future generations. All in all, we have to think not
only about the present, but to take more future oriented actions which can help to prevent
catastrophes.
