Chapter #0003 Secretary Robert Stephens, Jr..
Returning from NABVETS 2014 National Convention and
the National State Commanders’ meeting, representatives
from the Washington State Command Council met with Ms.
Lourdes E. Alvarado Ramos (Alfie), to share the goals and
objectives from National.
The representatives made a presentation to her about the
Ten Point Plan from National, and solicited feedback on how
we can align our strategies with the WDVA goals, helping
to ensure we’re working in concert to enhance services
to our veterans and their families. During our discussion,
Alfie requested our help in identifying veterans and their
widows who may be eligible for VA Pension Benefits. Many
lower-income veterans and widows are unaware of this
important Federal VA Benefit. Alfie encouraged NABVETS
and other partners such as our faith-based community, to
help veterans and their widows secure VA Pension Benefits.
In addition to helping veterans and families who need it most,
Pension Claims also count toward our total Claim Count in our
monthly reporting.
Our meeting was informative and encouraging, providing us
with enriched knowledge to better carry out those duties and
responsibilities of Veterans Service Offices.
