THE DESIGNER

CHRIS CLARK INTERVIEW

Zelinda: . Can you tell us more about your company "ChristineSonia" and the inspiration behind the designs?

Chris Clark: Christine Sonia the brand can best be described as clean, classic, luxurious and feminine. I like to encourage women to express their style and individuality through well designed and timeless pieces. The inspiration comes from everywhere I am inspired by television by art by nature even a song inspires me! I'm inspired by The changing seasons.

Zelinda: What made you decide to pursue a career in fashion?

Chris CLark: I've always had a passion for fashion and love designing. My husband encouraged me to make some of my designs to see how the finished product looked. The response from friends and family was very positive and I never looked back. I love everything about fashion I love fabric I love movement I love color I love the idea of fashion. The way a dress can change your mood is like nothing else.

Zelinda: Does your work reflect your personal fashion taste?

Chris Clark: Absolutely, I don't design anything I wouldn't personally wear. Everything I design embodies my own personal style for my many moods.

Zelinda: What do you like designing the most?

Chris Clark: I love designing everything from ready-to-wear smart casuals to floor sweeping red carpet gowns and everything in between but whatever it is I'm designing I try to keep it refined, stylish and effortless always Chic and comfortable.

Zelinda: When do you feel the most creative, or most challenged?

Chris Clark: My creative juices flow late night mostly when everything is quiet and still I'll have a nice glass of Malbec or Merlot and my music and my sketchpad. On a good session I can design with impeccable detail anything from 6 to 10 pieces. I feel most challenged when I have a deadline and I'm trying to create something specific and the fabrics are not cooperating with the design but then when everything comes together and the stars align in that magical way that they do all of that frustration just seems to have been all worth it. Even if it doesn't work out in the end, knowing that I exhausted every Avenue can be just as satisfying.
