MEET

Ashley Inez Harrison

Ashley Inez Harrison is a miracle child. She was born April 17, 1989 as a premature baby, weighing 1.5 lbs. The doctors predicted that she would only live to see 10 years old. A shunt was put in her head to drain the fluid from her brain, she was diagnosed as completely blind and handicapped, unable to walk, due to her curved spine. Ashley was strong and fought her way through her deficiencies. She went home from the hospital at 9 months old, weighing four pounds. Ashley continued to grow and gain weight.

Ashley went to TJ Rogers, a school for the handicap, in order to learn how to use her motor skills. She started school at Pyburn Elementary, in Galena Park school district at six years old. Ashley went on to Woodland Acres Middle School and then Galena Park High School. She graduated from Galena Park as an honor roll student in 2010.

During her school years, Ashley went on many field trips and participated in many events. Ashley went to the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, bowling and fishing. She attended church every Sunday at Second Baptist, with her grandparents. Her love for gospel music grew from her musical family singing at multiple church functions. She would sing and praise God everywhere she went. Ashley even sung at a talent show in school.
