Focus on Marketing and Small Business

By: Christina G. Sato

Veronica Olivarez is a digital marketing consultant, solo-traveler and creative professional who believes in, “living big and laughing often.” The University of Houston Bauer School of Business Alum was recently featured on Rosetta Stone’s website to discuss her travels and what it’s like behind the social feeds. You can find her article at www.rosettastone.com where she talks pedometers, abanicos (Spanish fans), and growing up without Spanish. While Rosetta Stone is a large company (and one of Veronica’s clients), she also helps small business owners, many of whom are women. An entrepreneur herself, Veronica specializes in assisting other entrepreneurs with digital marketing strategies and building their brand online.

CGS: Many small business/entrepreneurs have limited funds for digital marketing. How do you help clients begin their online presence?

VO: Most clients have already taken the initiative to create social media profiles. I provide them with makeovers and ensure they’re utilizing all the features available. It’s important for clients to understand that social media profiles do not replace a website.

CGS: What is AR and VR and why can small businesses benefit from these?

VO: Both augmented reality and virtual reality are methods of technology that focus on immersing the user with a product and enhancing their overall experience. These are both great techniques to gain trust with a customer.

CGS: What has been an exciting recent project?

VO: Filming our family business commercial for TileWorks of Conroe with all the grandkids to promote shopping small and supporting local businesses.

CGS: Who have been some of your inspirational female clients? Where can we follow them?

VO: My newest client is Dr. Corinne Devin- Orthodontist, US Navy Commander, Motivational speaker, and Beauty Queen. We first met at the United America Pageant in Austin and 10 years later we crossed paths in Catania, Sicily. IG: @drcorinnedevin YouTube: Dr. Corinne Devin
