Spike then stepped in having us begin the part of the ceremony that would forever bind our sweet little family together. We asked our families to bring a blanket from each side to represent our lineage and heritage and to represent those that are no longer with us. First having our own 2 daughters wrap Guy and myself in my Grandmothers blanket and then our own mothers wrapped all four of us in his Great grandmothers blanket. This is how we wanted to recite vows to one another…. wrapped in the entirety of our families history and love. The blankets hold no superpowers but worked as a symbol and also allowed us to feel the unity of family there with us even though they couldn’t physically be there. We vowed to honor and respect one another and sweet tears of love were shed. Once this part finished our children stepped aside so Guy and I could do a unity painting and then Ben Anderson said a traditional Irish prayer over us and Spike proclaimed us Husband and Wife.

The reception was a gorgeous patchwork cloth of love with impromptu music and the most delicious food brought from everyone we adore. My Junior High Choir teacher Kim Snell sang our first dance, “Moon River.” And Ann Wade sang a gorgeous rendition of "La Vie En Rose". Toasts were made and then we cut the cake accompanied by a spur of the moment song titled “Cut The Cake” by Wammo that nobody will ever be able to get out of their heads. More music was made and dances were had and it was the happiest most organic wedding I have ever been privy to.

Now that the wedding is done and everything is wrapped up I can tell you a few things…. no matter what type of wedding you decide to have there will ALWAYS be some kind of stress associated with it so be prepared. Never be afraid to ask people for help because they want to be an intricate part of your special day. The more you can let go of some of the control the better you will feel as well as watching something fruition before your very eyes that you could never imagine. We love that we had two photographers with two different styles. It was so much fun going through images after the wedding seeing how creatively and differently they saw everything. Thank you Keira Hand Photography and Josh Baker with Azulox Photography- you are both so talented and wonderful and you made our day one that will forever be seen by loved ones.

Our wedding was weird. It was different. Magical. Fun. Odd. Unique. Interesting. And above all very musical. But it was ours…. and at the end of the day, our goal of being husband and wife was met and really that is the only thing that mattered.
